Sony on Wednesday unveiled two new, super-slim versions of
its PlayStation 3 video game console.
One version will feature a 500GB hard drive and sell for
about the same price as the previous model, which had 320 gigabytes of storage.
The new models are less than half the size and weight of
Sony's original PlayStation 3 in 2006.
The new launch comes amid heavy competition in the gaming
console market, from devices including Microsoft's Xbox and now also a new
Nintendo console, the Wii U, which goes on sale in the United States on Nov. 18 and in Europe 12 days later.
